REVIEW: "Touch" by Jus Accardo

Book Synopsis (from Goodreads.com):
When a strange boy tumbles down a river embankment and lands at her feet, seventeen-year-old adrenaline junkie Deznee Cross snatches the opportunity to piss off her father by bringing the mysterious hottie with ice blue eyes home.

Except there’s something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the shower, is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts like she’ll turn to dust if he touches her. It’s not until Dez’s father shows up, wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should, that Dez realizes there’s more to this boy—and her father’s “law firm”—than she realized.

Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation—an organization devoted to collecting “special” kids known as Sixes and using them as weapons—his entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. The two team up with a group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down Denazen before they’re caught and her father discovers the biggest secret of all. A secret Dez has spent her life keeping safe.

A secret Kale will kill to protect.

My Thoughts:

WOW! Not what I expected at all. Then again, why am I so shocked? I have yet to come across a book that Entangled has published that I haven't enjoyed.

In Touch, we meet and follow Dez, a reckless seventeen year old girl that is on a mission to piss her father off. Everything in her world changes when she helps Kale, the gorgeous boy with blue eyes.. and no shoes. Everything she thought she knew about her father was wrong and believe me, she has more than enough reasons to want to piss him off.

A huge part of what made me fall in love with this story is that Dez was portrayed as a normal teenager. She partied, she pissed her father off, she was reckless.. most teens are like that these days.

I was glued to my Nook until this book was finished. I couldn't stop reading it because I absolutely HAD to know what happened next. Aside from a couple of things that I saw coming, I was kept guessing for a good portion of the book. Each character that was introduced was given the perfect amount of background information and actually had a reason to be there. I've noticed a lot in my recent reading that a lot of times we are introduced to characters for no reason and that just wasn't the case in Touch.

I don't want to gush over Kale but how can I not? He is so freakin' adorable, I just want to squeeze him. He is so kindhearted and gentle.. he's like a teddy bear! He is free to come into my room whenever he wants. My only issue with him? The cover model! All I could picture throughout the book was Taylor Lautner and that's not what I wanted.. but the model reminds me of him, as did the description! Kale's story is heartbreaking and pretty much brought me to tears at certain parts. I am such a sap sometimes!

This book gives you a taste of almost everything you could want. Action, secrets, supernatural abilities, deceit, and yes of course, romance. If this sounds like the type of story you enjoy, pick this up right away.. you won't be disappointed!

The second book in the Denazen series, Toxic, is due out on September 11, 2012 from Entangled Publishing. Untouched, a novella was released on March 27, 2012 and is only .99 on Amazon!

  2. I've seen this book around and I think the description sounds interesting, but I haven't read it yet. I've seen reviews that it's good (like yours) and reviews that say it is bad. Glad to see that you enjoyed it though! I'll have to read it one of these days.

  3. I remember hearing about this book awhile ago and I completely forgot about it and I completely agree with you about Entangled Publishing! Every book they've published I have loved! Kale sounds like a pretty great guy from what you've said and I agree about the cover that guy does have that Taylor Lautner look!
    Thanks for the great review!
