Hi everyone!! Welcome to my stop on the Spring Frost blog tour! You can follow the blog tour here and at the end of the tour, you can enter to win a signed copy of Spring Frost (Frost #7) by Kailin Gow! Today we're going to be talking with Rose from both the Frost Series and The Fairy Rose Chronicles!
Release Date: April 9, 2012
Rose is a Summer fairy from the Fairy Rose Chronicles (Part of the Frost Series), and from the Bitter Frost Series.
She started out as a Harvester fairy apprentice, but eventually became
an alchemist, thanks to her friend and love interest Alistair, the heir
to the neutral territory of Autumn Springs.
- What is the Fairy Rose Chronicles?
Rose:
It is a series of books about Feyland, from a young Summer fey’s
perspective – me! But it’s me at 12/13 years old when I had to go
through apprenticeship. For me, it was either become a harvester fairy
like my friends or a knight like my brother Rodney or an alchemist,
which is what I really wanted. The Fairy Rose Chronicles is more fairy
tale and fantasy because it’s written during the early 2000s and had
more of that, rather than the dark urban fantasy associated with fey
books later on. Bitter Frost is the series that takes place 5 years
after the Fairy Rose Chronicles, and is because a human girl from
Oregon, her name is Breena, is found and returned back to Feyland.
Little does she know, she is the lost heir to Feyland.
- What is your role in the Frost Series?
Rose:
Rodney is with Shasta, the Winter Princess, and because of his
association with Breena, she asked me to become an alchemist at her
Summer Palace. It turns out she and I have a few things in common, too
(Frost Fire and Spring Frost reveals this).
- What is a Harvester fairy?
Rose:
The ones in charge of planting and growing food for all of Feyland.
Harvester fey tend to be closer to nature, and we have an ability to
communicate and sense things with animals and animal-like creatures of
the fey.
- Do you have a love interest in the series?
Rose:
Yes – Alistair from the Autumn Springs and I met when he visited the
Summer Kingdom for his Alchemists apprenticeship (The Fairy Rose is the
book that shows all this), and we really hit it off. He’s a very
swoon-worthy guy, not just his looks, but with the way he makes me feel
like I’m the center of his universe. But in the Bitter Frost Series,
it’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other, and I have pretty
much given up hope of a real relationship with him because of what his
uncle wants for him. Alistair is to become the heir of the Autumn
Springs, and I’m not royalty. But there’s another guy I really like,
whose presence always makes me blush. All the women in Feyland have a
crush on him, but he has eyes only for one woman…
Ah… it’s complicated.
- In Spring Frost, you play a big role. What happens in Spring Frost, the 7th Book in the Bitter Frost Series of the Frost Series?
Rose:
After finding out about my destiny in Frost Fire (Book 6), it turns
out Breena and I share a common bond. We need each other to defeat the
evil that invades Feyland.
- Thank you Rose, anymore random things you want to add?
Rose:
Yes, the Book of Faeyore plays a significant role in Spring Frost,
too. Breena needs it like she needs me. Spring Frost has a lot of
reveals. It’s one of my favorite books in the series.
