REVIEW: "Deity" by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Book Synopsis (from Goodreads.com):
"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time."

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...

My Thoughts:
Without a doubt the best book I have read in 2012. That is saying something since Pure was released earlier this year. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC from Spencer Hill Press in exchange for an honest review. Deity is scheduled for release on November 6, 2012. I highly recommend you pre-order this book RIGHT NOW! Seriously, stop reading this review, open another browser window, pre-order it, then come back here and finish reading.

Team Seth or Team Aiden? Screw that, I'm Team Alex. This kick butt protagonist has proved time and time again that she doesn't need a man. I guess I am overreacting a little bit because of course I love romance but really, these men have more than their fair share of issues and I don't know how she can possibly handle them all!

I think what I love most about this series is that Jennifer puts every ounce of herself into each book and it becomes more and more obvious as we continue this journey with Alex. In Deity, I got to see and learn more about characters I was curious about and it helped put some of the many theories floating around, to rest.

The Gods finally make an appearance and trust me, your jaw will drop. There are so many twists and turns, ups and downs, your head will be reeling long after you read the last page. For those of you who were hesitant to read this series because Half-Blood reminded you of Vampire Academy, I strongly suggest you reconsider. This is definitely a must read series for all lovers of the young adult genre.

If you're a fan of JLA then this is a must read for you. It will have you laughing, crying, and begging for more. Definitely an emotional roller coaster that will leave you wondering what in the world she can possibly come up with next. "Unputdownable" should be a word because it is perfect for describing this amazing book. I finished it within four hours of receiving it in my mailbox.

I have no idea how I managed to write a review on this book without spoilers but I did and I am quite proud!
