REVIEW: "Pure" by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Book Synopsis (from Goodreads):
Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.

When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon... and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude... or killing her. When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.

My Thoughts:
Let me get this out of the way quickly. *FAN GIRL SCREAM!*
Jennifer L Armentrout has quickly become one of my favorite authors. Trust me when I tell you, that is not an easy thing to accomplish. Every single book of hers has kept me on the edge of my seat and I am anxiously awaiting more! She has certainly outdone herself this time. I am laughing as I write this though because I'm sure I'll be saying the same thing with each new release of hers!

Pure starts out where Half-Blood left off and we are right back in the Covenant with Alex and her roller coaster of a life.I thought I went through a whirlwind of emotions in Half Blood but that was NOTHING compared to what I went through reading Pure. I laughed, I cried, and I even wanted to scream! I like that we get to see Alex as a teenager and not just a kick-ass chick that fights daimons. We've known she is tough.. now we need to see that we can relate to her as well and Jennifer gives us that with Pure.

Team Aiden or Team Seth? I have been having an internal debate about this since I finished the book. After Half-Blood I was definitely Team Aiden but after reading Pure, I am leaning toward Team Seth. Maybe I'm just a sucker for the underdog or maybe I am hoping for a different outcome from the norm, either way.. I think Team Seth needs supporters. Let's be honest though, they both make me swoon. How could anyone not swoon over them?

I don't want to give too much away because it really is something you need to experience for yourself. While the actual release date is April 3, 2012, Amazon and The Book Depository have already been shipping out paperbacks. I am not certain about ebooks though! Also, the ebook has scenes from Seth's POV that aren't in the paperback edition. It may be worth picking up both! If you enjoyed Half Blood, you are in for a treat!

Now I have to ask.. which team are YOU on!? Why?!

5 out of 5 stars
